Let's make nail polish rings! A tutorial.

Hello everyone ^_^/

today I have a tutorial to share after much demand from friends and fellow bloggers.
Do you remember my post about nail polish rings?

Apparently they proved to be very popular and as a result I got many requests to make my own tutorial on how to make them. There are actually three ways to make them, today I will share the easiest one and in the future I will make tutorials for the other two methods as well.

So let's get started.
First of all here is what you will need.
Nail polishes of your choice
Clear cabochons
Ring base
Glue

Before you do anything else make sure to put some paper on your work bench so you won't stain anything.
I will give you two examples of nail polish design using two nail polishes layered on each other so you can achieve a more interesting look. Of course you can use only one colour as well.

I will show you how to make a crackle nail polish ring and a holographic glitter nail polish ring.

I have chosen to use two of the new China Glaze crackle polishes (in pink and purple), a fuschia glitter and some of my favourite holographic colours. Take each cabochon and paint it either with the crackle polish or with the glitter.

Wait for the colour to dry.
Then take your second colour. I used holographic colours for maximum effect but you can choose anything you like. Apply a couple of layers of the second colour until you get the desired effect. (wait for each coat to dry before applying the next one).

When your cabochons are ready, take an epoxy or a deco glue and the appropriate base for each cabochon, place an amount of glue on the base and place the cabochon.

Wait for it to dry (I usually wait 24 hours to be sure) and your ring is ready to wear ^_^

I hope you liked this tutorial. Depending on the polishes you will use, the possibilities are endless and I think it is very easy to make these. All the things you will need can be found in craft stores or online.

And if you just don't want to make these yourself you can always check my etsy shop  or send me a request to make one for you ^_^

Butter London Victoriana

Hello everyone ^_^

Due to lack of time I'm sharing a mani I wore last week just before I head off to dinner with my darling!

So here is Butter London's Victoriana.

I fell in love with this colour when I saw it going around in various blogs, so I had to have it. After wearing it I am loving it even more. The colour was perfectly opaque in one coat but I added another one to make it more intense.

But you know me, no matter when I need some glitter in my life. So I decided to layer BYS Adventures of Alice from my latest swap with 'Chelle over a couple of nails on each hand.

Even though I used just one coat, it covered Victoriana completelly, but I don't mind, as glitter explosion is definitely my thing!

Here is the completed look ^_^

I really liked how the colours looked together and also with a top coat of Seche the staying power of this manicure was fabulous, as it lasted me a full week!

I'm off for my dinner date now, will catch up with replying to comments and reading my fav blogs when I'm back. Hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday!

Ahoy! Hello Kitty

Hello everyone ^_^/

how are you all today? I am really excited as I have a 3 day weekend ahead of me and to be honest I really need it. I feel exhausted for some reason!

Today I have a really fun manicure to share with you. I did this for my friend T. who wanted a playful spring mani. So we decided to combine Ahoy! from the China Glaze Anchor's Away collection, with Hello Kitty full nail decals. It turned out to be a really fun combination as the nail decals complimented the lovely pink colour of Ahoy! perfectly!

When I first saw the Anchor's Away collection I wasn't sure about this colour but I ended up liking it a lot! It's a very pretty spring colour! For this mani I used 2 coats of Ahoy! and a coat of Seche on top.
What do you think of this combination? Do you like it?

Eyeko Portobello Lipgloss and Vampira Nail Polish

Hello everyone ^_^/

this is a quick post before I run out to see my favourite band, Paradise Lost, live.

A few weeks ago someone used my Eyeko ambassador code for the first time so last week I received a lovely gift pack including an Eyeko London Lips Lip Gloss in Portobello, a lovely sheer baby pink with gold shimmer! Thank you so much to the lovely ladies who used my code and also to Eyeko for sending me this awesome gift pack ^_^

I was really excited as I love the colour. It's a very pretty colour, perfect to wear everyday and it has a lovely smell too! I tried photographing it on myself but failed miserably, so my lovely friend T. kindly offered to model it so I can take a decent photo to show you guys!

Doesn't it look fabulous? She fell in love with the colour!

Also as I am going to a metal live today, I wanted to paint my nails in a colour that would match my mood and outfit. For this reason I chose the Eyeko Vampira nail polish. A lovely black nail polish full of dark red shimmer! Application was perfect and I had full coverage with two coats. Added a coat of Seche on top for extra shine and I'm ready to go!

Hope you are all having a fabulous Sunday <3

If you are interested in trying out these lovely products you can use my ambassador code  E10053 or just click on the banner on the left.
From all sales made this week an amount will be donated to the Japanese earthquake relief fund.

An unexpected present from the land of the Rising Sun

Hello everyone ^_^/

How are you today? I hope you are enjoying your weekend and the brightest full moon of the last 20 years!

Let me start off this post by saying thank you to everyone who has entered my giveaway already, I am overwhelmed by the number of participants! Of course we all have to wait until April 15 for it to be over so I can pick the winners but I am super excited already!!! Also for those who asked, the only form of payment that I accept for my shop is paypal.
If you haven't entered already just check the sidebar so you can join in the fun.

So what is the purpose of this post? Something that I got this week that made me happy and very sad at the same time. I received a birthday present from Japan from a very dear friend of mine.

When I got it I was so happy opening it and reading her sweet card and seeing how spot on she was with all the lovely things she got for me. One of the latest nail mags, swarovski crystals, nail art stickers and even Kimura Takuya chips w00t!!! (in case you don't know, Kimura Takuya is one of the most popular idols in Japan and one of my top 3 favourite artists)

But at the same time I felt so sad as her country is in a horrible situation right now. It made me realise how small we are and how a single moment can change everything in our lives. So we should be grateful for everyday, for all the people in our lives because it can all change so suddenly when we least expect it.
Please say a prayer for Japan and all the people who are suffering there but also all over the world.

Just a heads up

Hello everyone,

I had a couple of posts planned for the last couple of days and a giveaway that I wanted to start today.
But given the current state of things I cannot just blog happily when some of my dearest friends are facing such a grave situation in Japan. So please excuse my not posting these days. I will post the giveaway on Monday.

Riva mani followup and a Swarovski ring

Hello everyone ^_^/

how are you today? I am warming up by the fireplace, while writing this post.

Remember my Chanel Riva manicure from the previous post? After having it on for a couple of days I decided I wanted to spice it up a bit. So I whipped out my Konad stamping plates, OPI DS Extravagance and Essence Clyde and this is what I came up with.

I really like the end result, especially how Clyde looks layered over Riva. And I am surprised at the excellent stamping abilities of DS Extravagance, that was something I wasn't really expecting! I sealed everything with a coat of Seche Vite top coat and my mani is still as good as new ^_^

Do you see the ring I am wearing in the first photo? It was gifted to me by Chunky Bling, my new affiliate. It is a lovely ring with clear Swarovski crystals.

I usually prefer wearing huge rings, but this sparkly beauty is hard to pass by. I love wearing it in sunny weather because the Swarovski crystals are so shiny. And it goes great with all my manicures too ^_^

If you would like to check out their whole Swarovski jewellery collection, you can check the Chunky Bling website.

Chanel Riva

Hello everyone ^_^/

even though spring is officially here, the weather is still gloomy and expected to get even worse over the course of the coming week. That's not a bad thing at all for me, since winter is my favourite season. And I am still praying for snow.

So I decided to paint my nails with a bright colour that would match both a spring and a winter scenery.
The colour I chose is Chanel Riva, which was kindly gifted to my by my good friend 'Chelle for my birthday.
I am so excited as this is my first Chanel polish and the colour is fantastic!!!

I applied two colours and had almost perfect coverage. I think a third one would be needed to make it fully opaque but I decided to stop at two. I was very pleased with the formula as it was easy to work with and the polish dried really fast too.

When hit by the light, a blue shimmer appears in the polish, As we have no sunshine lately I tried my best to capture it using flash. It appears mostly in the bottle though. Maybe in the bright sunlight it shows on the nails too, I am not sure.

All in all I am very happy with this nail colour, and even though I have never worn a similar colour before I love how it looks on my nails ^_^

Do you own any Chanel colours? What is your favourite one?

It's spring time, so here is the March calendar

Hello everyone ^_^/

with the new month, spring has supposedly come (although it's still quite cold here).

So here is the March edition of the nail calendar from Nail Up!

Lucky colour for each day
1 Lemon yellow 2 Milky pink 3 Scarlet 4 Pearl pink 5 Red

6 Milky purple 7 Orange 8 Pink white 9 Vivid yellow 10 Pink beige 11 Beige 12 White
13 Pearl pink 14 Light green 15 Pearl pink 16 Silver 17 White 18
Salmon pink 19 Sparkly blue
20 Pastel pink 21 Aqua 22 Pearl beige 23 Salmon pink 24 Pink orange 25 Pearl pink 26 Purple
27 Sparkly pink 28 Pearl white 29 White 30 Green 31 Pastel blue

For March there are two tutorials. Both are quite easy to make!

For the one on the left you paint the nails beige. Then using acrylic colours you paint pink and white stripes. With glitter and bullions you make a star and then add some rhinestones keeping a balanced look on the nail.

For the one on the right you start with a milky pink half moon mani. You draw the animal print with gold and brown. Finally you add the rhinestones on the half moon border and you're done!

I hope you liked this month's looks and tutorials.

More of the calendar in April!
