Nail Inspiration: how my nail craze started!

Hello everyone!

It's Monday and a new week has started (and tomorrow a new month and season, yay!!!)
So today I have something a little bit different. I got this idea off Tumblr where I see a lot of people making inspiration posts. So from time to time I will do the same in this little blog ^__^

My first inspiration post is dedicated to the person who is the reason why I started painting my nails in the first place. This person is none other than my mother!
Ever since I was a little kid, my mum was always very elegant and she always had well groomed and painted nails. Back then there wasn't a huge variety of colours so her nails were always painted red. I would always admire her long nails and wish I could grow up fast so I could paint my nails too!

When I was 15 I stole one of her burdgundy red nail polishes and never looked back XD

Now that I am all grown up we go nail shopping together and I do her nails quite often.
But she is quite the nail artist herself. Her favourite shades are browns and golds (the exact opposite with me lol) but she loves to experiment with many colours! She likes to try a lot of different brands too but her favourites are definitely Anna Sui and BarryM.

You want proof? Here are some of her own manicures!

I bet you can tell she is a huge glitter fan too!
As you can see we have the same nail shape! I guess I am used to seeing her nails in this shape for so long that it feels natural to me to have mine in the same style!
I always love her manicures, and many times she comes up with creative ideas that I love to steal hehehe
All the above photos are taken by her as she was very excited when I told her I wanted to make a post about her nails. So yep, these are my mum's manis for ya!

Who is your nail inspiration? How did you start painting your nails?

Submerge Me moisturizing booster by b•liv review

Hello everyone ^_^/

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend.
After a very busy week I have a review to share with all of you today.

The product I am going to review is Submerge Me, a moisturizing booster by b•liv.

I have mixed skin so at times finding a right moisturizing product has been quite an issue. I have been using Submerge Me for 3 weeks now as part of my daily routine. I use it every night after cleansing my face before applying night cream. After the first week I started noticing the difference on my skin. It felt much more hydrated and smoother. After three weeks the dry areas on my face are almost non existent and my face looks brighter and healthier.

I would describe Submerge Me as a thick moisturizing lotion with a pleasant subtle scent. Apart from moisturizing it is also brightening and age preventing. The packaging is very convenient, as it has a pump on top so you can use exactly as much product as you need.

This is the full ingredient list that can also be found on the product page along with additional information on this product.

Purified Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Isononanoate, Ceteareth-6 Olivate,Trehalose, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, Ceramide 3Ceramide 6 II, Dimethicone, Ceramide 1, Diazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance, Triethanolamine, Cetyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Strawberry Begonia(Saxifraga sarmentosa) ExtractGrape (Vitis vinifera) Fruit Extract, Sorbitan Olivate, Methylparaben, White Mulberry (Morus bombycis) Root ExtractBaikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis) Root Extract, Propylparaben.

All in all I am very pleased with Submerge me and I will definitely keep using it after this bottle runs out. The product has been provided to me by the company for reviewing purposes but this did not affect my opinion at all. What you see written here is my honest and true opinion after using the product for three weeks.

You can check out b•liv on their home page or on Facebook.

Also they were kind enough to offer the first 50 readers of my blog free samples of Submerge Me.
All you have to do is check out my review post on their Facebook page and comment under it with your e-mail address and blog url.

I hope you enjoyed this review. Have a lovely Sunday everyone ^_^

It's my birthday and I'll paint my nails if I want to!

Hello everyone ^_^/

yay, I am back from beautiful Budapest!
Thank you so much for reading and commenting on my previous posts, I will reply to all your lovely comments asap ^___^

Today is a very exciting day for me, as it's my birthday *dances*
That means I have a birthday mani to share!
It's nothing much as I didn't have time to do a full blown design but I chose a very pretty colour from my recent swap with the lovely 'Chelle.

The colour is Scrangie by Rescue Beauty Lounge. It's a lovely purple with lots of teal micro glitter in it!
As soon as I saw it in the bottle I fell in love! Apart from the fabulous colour, this is a very good quality polish, great formula, easy to work with, full coverage in two coats, dries super fast! I added a coat of Seche too for extra shine and I was done!

Now off to work I go to start my day productively!

the Greek files #5

Hello everyone ^_^/

this is another installment of the Greek files, the fifth one and the first for 2011.

Today I have for you two nail polishes by Erre Due that were included in Vogue magazine a couple of months ago. They have no names or numbers, one is red and one is pink.

First up is the red

This is two coats without base or top coat. I have to admit I am not really a red nails person (unless we are talking holo) but this is a lovely red creme that I am sure many ladies will enjoy. The formula was perfect and very easy to work with and I got full coverage with just two coats.

And here is the pink

This is also two coats without base or top coat. Now although I really like this colour and the formula of this nail polish, unfortunatelly as you can see it is quite sheer with two coats. I think I would need a couple more to get full coverage. I am thinking though that this colour would be perfect as a layering base. I will definitely try it out!

Out of the two, I have to admit that my vote goes to the red. Generally I don't like sheer polishes, I want perfect coverage with two layers max! Apart from that though, both polishes were great and definitely a great deal if you think they were a freebie with a magazine!

This is what I have for you today, I hope you enjoyed these two fun colours ^_^

I have the best friends in the world :D

Hello everyone ^_^/

if all went well with my scheduled posts you will be reading this!

Yesterday just before I left home, I received a package from one of my most loved friends, my dearest 'Chelle.
It is always an absolute pleasure swapping with her but this time, wow, I was blown away by her kindness and excellent taste (also from the fact that she seems to be reading my thoughts as she discovers my tastes even before I do!) On Wednesday it is my birthday so the whole package was birthday themed!

Here are all the goodies!

As you can see she gave me my first Chanel and RBL polishes. Also a fabulous red holo from Ozotic Pro (I am so into red holos lately!), a lovely rich rech Borghese nail polish, the BYS Wonderland polishes that I wanted for so long (<<<<<<<3) and a fabulous purple gradation kit. Lush cosmetics that I love and of course a ton of yummy goodies that I had to hide so my darling won't eat them while I'm gone XD

My dearest 'Chelle, thank you is really not enough to describe what I want to say! But as these are the only words available, I will say it once again. Thank you so very much! This post is dedicated to you with much much love <3

My V-Day mani

Hello everyone ^_^/

this is a late and quick post.

Today I will share with you my Valentine's day mani.
Generally I am not a big fan of the day as both my darling and me feel that when you love someone you need to show it and celebrate it everyday and not just once a year. But I did a quick mani anyway.
The base was I love my jeans by Essence, with a coat of NfuOh 48 on top and some heart shaped nail decals.
Quick and easy. It came out cute but didn't even last 12 hours :o (please excuse the smudging on the pics, I didn't have time to do proper clean up).

On another note I would like to apologise for not being so active with blogging but February is being really insane and things are not expected to calm down before the beginning of March. I am quite behind on my reading and commenting but I try to catch up as often as I can.

I am flying out to lovely Budapest in a few hours and will try to blog from there too but I have a couple of scheduled posts coming up that I hope you enjoy (hope they work this time).

Have a fabulous weekend everyone <3

Red holographic manicure

Hello everyone ^_^/

Lately I've been looking for the perfect red holographic nail polish. I cannot say I am a big fan of red but for some reason a red holographic polish seemed very appealing. After browsing around a bit I decided to get Prize by Nubar. Here is my current mani using exactly that nail polish.

To make the manicure more interesting I used TiNS the Mars on my ring finger. It is a dark red glittery colour. Although this mani is quite simple, I ended up liking it a lot. I used two coats of each colour and a coat of Sehce on top.

Prize is an awesome holographic red and it looks stunning in the sunlight. Here is a pic I took with my iPhone.

Do you like red holographic colours? Which one would you recommend?

You can have your nail polish and wear it too!

Hello everyone ^_^/

A new week is starting and I thought it was about time to share a new crafting idea since the deco part of my blog must have been feeling a bit left out lately.

But with this post I will combine both deco and nail polish so yay!!!

It all started after coming along this article in one of the nail polish mags I was reading in the summer.
After showing a lovely design with white colours on a purple background the writer suggests making a matching ring using gel. Now I have never played with gel nails but the idea was stuck in my head. I was intrigued. So I started experimenting and investigating.

Then I came across this lovely tutorial on youtube.

That was it, I started experimenting with all sorts of polishes and designs. I find the whole idea very exciting so here are some of my creations as well.

Various designs. You can see I used glitter, nail decals, swarovski crystals, stamping and sponging.

Rings with the matching manicure.

Rings using Zoya Sara, NfuOh 51 and OPI DS Original.
The possibilities are endless really. You can use a huge variety of materials and methods and produce really unique designs.

These proved to be quite popular as I have already sold quite a few. I even added a few to my etsy shop.

What do you think of this? Exciting? Boring?
If you would like me to do my own tutorial on these rings let me know.

I hope you all have a lovely start to your week!
