Beetlejuice inspired gothic nail art

Wow, January is almost over and just now I managed to find some time to write a new post!
But since today is the Chinese New Year, may the year of the horse bring happiness, health and prosperity to everyone ^_^

So for my first post for 2014 I want to show you some gothic nail art, inspired by one of my favourite movies, Beetlejuice!

I am a sucker for Tim Burton movies and I just rewatched Beetlejuice recently so I decided to do a mani to match the movie's atmosphere.

Here is what I used:

From right to left
Essence dark night starlight from the Dark Romance collection (a gift from the lovely Elena from Elena's finds
Essence Ahoy! from the 50's Girls collection
Andrea Fulerton black nail art pen
Tony Moly Startdust glitter nail polish
Seche Vite top coat
Skull nail decals

I absolutely loved the end result, I was so sad when I had to take it off! What do you have on your nails at the moment dear readers? Are you a Tim Burton fan? Which one is your favourite Tim Burton movie?

I am going to close this post with my favourite scene from the whole movie.
Bettlejuice... Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice... !!!

Trick or treat, nails and candy for Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone!

One of my favourite times of the year is finally here so of course I had to make a post, no matter how busy I am. Because of the day this will be a post full of sweets and also sparkly spooky nails!

Trick or treat!

Let's start with my nails of the day! Every year I look forward to what China Glaze will have to offer for Halloween and once again I wasn't disappointed. So my mani for the day is from the Monsters Ball collection. I painted all my nails with Bump in the Night, a black textured polish and then for some extra sparkle I applied a coat of Boo-gie Down, a mix of black white and orange glitter. I am very pleased with this combo. It even matches my outfit of the day ^_^

But no Halloween is complete without some treats so for this day I was prepared as I decided a while ago I wanted to get some of my favourite Japanese sweets. So I did a Japanese snacks haul from Oyatsu cafe, a Japanese candy online store.

And here is what I got!
First my favourite Ghana chocolate, which I hadn't eaten for so long!!!

I also got a mix of flavours of Hi-Chew candy as both me and my darling love this.

Kanjani8 did an ad for Hi-Chew at some point too XD

We also got some Jagariko potato sticks, all three flavours that are available. Om nom nom!

And since this is a Halloween post I will close with the most fitting song for the occasion!

I hope you are all having a fun day!
p.s. all the products in this post have been purchased by me.

Alice in Wonderland nails for Halloween

Hello everyone and Happy Halloween *^_^*

For today I have been saving a super kawaii manicure to show you, with a theme that I think fits the day perfectly. What is that you might ask? Why, Alice in Wonderland of course!

My base colour is Stargazer #312, a lovely burgundy/pink nail polish full of blue shimmer. Stargazer is a long time favourite of mine as it was my first favourite nail polish brand, back at a time when nail polishes used to be just different shades of red. But Stargazer was always a fun exception to that rule ;) As you can see, 312 is very pretty both in the bottle and on the nails. It's quite sheer though so make sure you use a good solid colour underneath. I layered 2 coats over red.

Then I used some super cute nail decals from Japan and as an accent I used Models Own Freak Out! from the Mirrorball collection.

Everything was sealed with Seche Vite top coat as usual.

Do you like Alice in Wonderland dear readers What do you have on your nails for Halloween?
p.s. don't forget to enter my Happy Halloween giveaway, open until November 11.

Halloween nail art tutorial and some exciting news

Hello everyone ^_^/

this post is full of bits and pieces as I have some very exciting news to share with you all!

First of all, I wrote a guest post for becomegorgeous.com. If you like the nails in the photo and want to learn how I made them head on to my Cat and Paws Halloween nail art tutorial.

The other piece of news I have is even more exciting as I am going to be teaching some seminars in my city.

The first is about how to sell and market your handmade crafts online. I am going to be teaching the whole process from setting up a paypal account to finding the right online venue to sell your crafts, including details on how to photograph, tag and promote your creations in social media.

The second is about nail art and frankening. I will demonstrate easy nail art techniques using things we already have at home and how we can transform old nail polishes into fun new ones using all sorts of sparkly stuff.

If you live in Thessaloniki and wish to attend any of the above just click on the highlighted links for more information. I hope to see some of you there ^_^

October nail inspiration, lace and freehand nail art tutorials

Hello everyone ^_^/

no October nail inspiration post would be complete without Halloween nail art. This time I was drawn to a fabulous dark lace nail design from the current issue of Nail Venus. Black lace on a grey background, with Swarovski crystals. Very elegant and perfect for a Vamp look.

Lately I am also into freehand nail art. I love experimenting with acrylic paint and different nail art brushes so here are a couple of tutorials I found interesting (they are from Nail Venus as well). The first is a skull in black and white, very appropriate for the season but also for a deathrock or gothic manicure. The second is a romantic Eiffel tower nail art design.

Both are awesome and I definitely want to try them. How about you dear readers? What will you be wearing for Halloween this year?

My Pink Halloween manicure

Hello everyone and Happy Halloween!

Today I have a manicure to show you that I was saving especially for today, as it turned out to be my favourite Halloween mani. Wanting to escape the usual colours I decided to use black and magenta instead ^_^

C

The nail polishes I used were Sally Hansen Black Out, Etude House LudiDarling Shimmering Magenta Pink and Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuchsia. I also used some Pa nail stickers that I got in Japan a while ago.

Please excuse the tip wear. I took the photos on the third day I had this one. Sadly this mani didn't last as much as my other ones, which was a bit disappointing.

Here is a thumb detail. I really liked the black kitties ^_^

Do you like this colour combination for Halloween? What I enjoyed most on this mani was the way the Kleancolor holo looked layered over the other colours. Especially in the sunlight it was fabulous!

I am going to close this post with a photo of my favourite location for Halloween, Roppongi Hills in Tokyo.
This photo was taken on the top of the Mori tower and you can even see Tokyo tower in the back.

Easy nails for Halloween

Hello everyone ^_^/

I have been meaning to make this post earlier in the week but I couldn't find the time, but finally here it is ^_^
I want to show you a couple of very simple Halloween manis, perfect for those who don't have enough time, like me.

The first one is a black and orange polka dot manicure. Very easy to achieve with a dotting tool or a toothpick.

I reversed the colours for an accent finger, to make this a little more fun. I used the orange Claire's nail polish I got from Moni and Sally Hansen's Black Out.

Even though it is a simple manicure, it is quite fun.

For the second one I wanted to use some of the fabulous Halloween polishes from China Glaze. So I started with two coats of It's Alive, a fantastic green glitter.

Then on some nails I drew stitches with black nail polish and on some nails I applied China Glaze Black Mesh. And here is the final result.

What do you think about these? Do you paint your nails in seasonal themes or just go with whatever you like?
I hope I can find time to do a more full on Halloween mani, as I have many ideas in my head. Let's see how that works out XD

For the time being don't forget to enter my running giveaway for a chance to win two Seventeen nail polishes.

October nail inspiration, Halloween

Hello everyone ^_^/

October is one of my favourite months of the year for many reasons. The weather is finally getting bearable and of course we have Halloween. Even though we don't really have Halloween in Greece (we have the canrival which is much later) it is one of my favourite "holidays".

So this month's nail inspiration is Halloween themed.

Here are some interesting nail art designs from old Nail Max issues I have lying around in the house.

I love these Girls Rock themed nails. Especially the cherry one is to die for (must try this one asap).

And here are a couple of step by step Halloween nail art tutorials that are quite easy to achieve.

Do you like any of these nail art ideas? Will you try a Halloween themed manicure this year?
