Floral nails and a nail art class

February turned out to be a very busy month, leaving me no time for blogging yet again. I had the opportunity to do many fun things, including teaching a nail art class, so here is a nail inspiration post full of nail art ideas.

We tried a variety of nail art designs, incuding glitter gradations, animal print nails and cute fruits, using nail polish, glitter and acrylic colours.

For the occasion I decided to sport floral nails, mixing handpainted flowers and polka dots so I can show the girls how they can combine different designs to create a fun manicure.

Have you ever attended a nail art class dear readers? Or do you find the idea boring?

February nail inspiration, kawaii characters nail art tutorials

My favourite month, February, is finally here, so of course it has to start with a nail inspiration post ^_^
Also this post marks the start of my first theme month. The theme being kawaii (cute). So this nail inspiration post is full of kawaii nail art tutorials with cute characters that we all know and love.

These tutorials come from the January 2013 issue of Nail Up!
Kawaii characters are huge in Japan as expected and the queen of everything kawaii is none other than Hello Kitty.

Some fun nail art ideas using simple nail art techniques and kawaii decals that are available in Japan. If you cannot find the same you can always see what is available in your area and change the design accordingly ^_^

Other popular characters from the Sanrio family are My Melody and Kiki & Lala (also known as Little Twin Stars)
I adore the Kiki&Lala designs, both are so cute!

Of course when it comes to kawaii characters, we cannot forget about Disney.
Disney characters are as popular as ever and always a great source of inspiration for nail art.

Last but not least, two very famous cute ladies, Betty Boop and Barbie.

Do you like kawaii characters dear readers? Would you wear your nails like this? Which ones are your favourites? Although I am a sucker for everything Hello Kitty to be honest I prefer Kiki&Lala and My Melody. Especially Kuromi, the evil My Melody. But this is a topic for another post I think ^_^

Experiments, experiments...

Hello everyone ^_^/

in the midst of the Black Friday sale craziness, I am experimenting on new decoden styles. And since it's been a while since my last crafting post, I will show you the results of my experiments today!

A while ago a bought a bunch of super kawaii fabrics! They were sitting in a box while I was trying to decide what to do with them. So I decided to include them in a decoden project and see how they will turn out.

As I love changing my phone case every few months, I made a couple of cases for my phone. The first one has an Alice in Wonderland theme. I used a cute pink fabric with Alice themed playing cards, glitter and Swarovski crystals. And a lot of shiny varnish!!!

The second one is black and full of yummy sweets. I also added rhinestones for some bling ^_^
I used a different technique for this one so it turned out a bit rough around the edges, but I like it none the less.

Do you use phone cases dear readers? Do you prefer simple ones or blingy overloaded ones? Let me know in the comments!

Alice in Wonderland nails for Halloween

Hello everyone and Happy Halloween *^_^*

For today I have been saving a super kawaii manicure to show you, with a theme that I think fits the day perfectly. What is that you might ask? Why, Alice in Wonderland of course!

My base colour is Stargazer #312, a lovely burgundy/pink nail polish full of blue shimmer. Stargazer is a long time favourite of mine as it was my first favourite nail polish brand, back at a time when nail polishes used to be just different shades of red. But Stargazer was always a fun exception to that rule ;) As you can see, 312 is very pretty both in the bottle and on the nails. It's quite sheer though so make sure you use a good solid colour underneath. I layered 2 coats over red.

Then I used some super cute nail decals from Japan and as an accent I used Models Own Freak Out! from the Mirrorball collection.

Everything was sealed with Seche Vite top coat as usual.

Do you like Alice in Wonderland dear readers What do you have on your nails for Halloween?
p.s. don't forget to enter my Happy Halloween giveaway, open until November 11.

Purikura on your iphone! Charuca Purikura

Hello everyone ^_^/

Today I want to talk about one of my favourite things. Purikura!
Purikura (プリクラ) is a Japanese word from the term print club and it refers to photo booths where you can take photos and then cutify them using included effects on the machine. Super kawaii, no?

Here is an example taken a few years ago, while travelling in Japan with one of my best friends ^_^

As you can see, it's a lot of fun and the possibilities are endless! Unfortunatelly for those of us living outside of Japan, decent Purikura machines are almost impossible to find.

But with smartphones, this problem is easily solved. As an avid iPhone user myself, I am always checking out all the Purikura apps. So I was very excited to receive a very interesting email a few days ago.

It was from a company called Blokwise and they provided information for a new iPhone app they have developed called Charuca Purikura.

Here is what they have to say about it:

Blokwise, the digital innovation producer, releases “Charuca Purikura” on the App Store. An app developed with the famous visual producer Charuca.

After waiting so much, It’s time to raise the curtain!
We present to you Charuca Purikura, an incredible app that allows you to decorate your photos with the cutest images from the Charuca collections. It’s a free download and brings a gift pack with a Kawaii collection.

You can charukize your Facebook photos downloading them into the app. Also it has the option to choose an image from the device gallery or take a new picture with the cam.

The pictures can be customized adding Frames, Stamps, Speeches and drawing with the Freehand Mode. Has a micro-purchases system that allows you to access all the collections: Kawaii, Toxic, Baby and Gothic. You can see the items of each collection and if you like it, you can buy it in a easy way.

And that’s not all! When you finish to charukize your picture, you can share it with your friends on Facebook, send it by e-mail, or save it in your device.

Is really fantastic, super cute and with the best japanese style.
It will be available for iPhone and iPod.

Explore your creativity and go to charukize your photos!

For more info visit: www.blokwise.com/purikura/

Of course I downloaded the app to check it out as it sounded very interesting. Downloading the app is free and it comes with one collection of stamps, frames and speech bubbles. If you want to download the extra collections, you can by them inside the app. It is very easy to use and you can go back and forth making any changes you want on the photo. Here is a charukized photo of B-chan, my dog ^_^

Isn't the end result adorable? For the record I want to state that I am in no way affiliated with Blokwise. I got the informative email from them and as I like kawaii purikura, I found it interesting so I am sharing it with you, dear readers.

On a sidenote, you might notice there is a new kawaii tag in the blog. Kawaii means cute in Japanese and it is a whole concept in Japan and a huge part of Japanese pop culture. I decided to make such posts from time to time, sharing my kawaii finds with you all. What do you think, would you find such posts interesting?

Anna Sui #210, a beautiful purple

Hello everyone ^_^/

you might remember back in September I mentioned the new Anna Sui nail polish bottle design. Since then I have been dying to get my hands on a few of these lovelies. Recently, with the help of a couple dear friends, my wish was realised. Now I have a small Anna Sui dress bottle army, yay!

Here is a better look at all the colours. The bottles look gorgeous and as expected of Anna Sui all the colours are very interesting and quite unique.

Of course I had to try the purple one that I got from my friend Moni, first.
It is Anna Sui nail color N #210. A beautiful royal purple that applied perfectly after two coats. I used a coat of Anna Sui top coat for quick drying and to preserve the lovely rose smell. When I first saw the bottle design, I was wondering if it would be easy to handle but this was not an issue at all.

Purple is one of my favourite colours and this nail polish did not disappoint me. Perfect coverage with two coats and with the help of the top coat it lasted for quite a while. I had this on for 4 days before changing it and had no tip wear at all.

Have you tried any Anna Sui nail polishes dear readers? Which one is your favourite? Do you like the new bottle design?

What better way to celebrate 1 year of blogging than...

A glittery neon Hello Kitty manicure!!!

I just got these cute Hello Kitty nail stickers and I wanted to use them for a special occasion so I think my blogavversary was the perfect chance!

Here is what I used for this mani:

NfuOh Base coat
Color Club Ultra-Astral
Color Club Wink.Wink.Twinkle
Color Club Starry Temptress
Seche Vite top coat
Hello Kitty nail stickers

Over the top coat I used two coats of either Ultra-Astral or Wink.Wink.Twinkle.

Then I added a coat of Starry Temptress or a Hello Kitty decal on different fingers.
And this is what I got ^_^

I also made a cute purple starry nail polish ring just because I could XD

And here is a close up of the thumbs!

Did you like this manicure? The nail polish ring? What kind of ring would you make to match this manicure?

p.s. is anyone else having issues with their GFC widget not appearing? This is driving me nuts @____@
