Nail Polish Swap

Uwa, uwa, hello everyone ^_^/

I am so happy today. I just had my first polish swap with the lovely 'Chelle from Cosmetic Cupcake.

When I got her parcel yesterday, I was at work and even my darling got so excited as we were unpacking everything (he even attacked half of the sweets that were in it, without me even getting a chance to look at them XD).

So this post is dedicated to Michelle with a huge thank you.
I loved everything so very very very much and I will swatch everything soon.
For now here are some pics of the goodies ^_^

As you can see apart from all the awesome nail polishes and sweets, she also sent me a balm that I am gonna try asap and also 3 nail stamp plates (including the awesome Hello Kitty one that I wanted for so long, how did she know? uwaaaaaaaaa - please excuse me being so hyper, I can't help myself) and a pretty postcard.

Here are some more detailed shots of the polishes.

The left one is actually purple but it came out blue in the photo.

If you ask me which colour I like best, I really will be in a bind as I can totally not decide. I love each and every one of them and I am already thinking of manicure ideas for all of them.

Now I hope that my parcel will reach her soon too.
Until then, dearest 'Chelle thank you so much once again.
Big hugs and love to you and to everyone who has managed to read this super flaily post.

Zoya snowsicle and a gradation tutorial

Hello everyone ^_^/

It is a lovely cool summer morning and I am finally feeling better, yay!
Thank you so much to everyone for your get well wishes and also to everyone who has entered my giveaway. If you haven't entered yet, it is open until August 10 so there is plenty of time.

Today I want to share a purple gradation nail tutorial that I did a few weeks ago.

I did it using Zoya Snowsicle as my base. I really like this colour because even though it's sheer it is very sparkly and pretty. In the photo I am wearing two coats without top coat. Pretty nice, isn't it?

Here is what you are going to need for this tutorial.

Base coat and top coat, a fairly light colour as your gradation base (I used Zoya Snowsicle), and two purple colours, one lighter and one darker (I used OPI's Do You Lilac It and Purple With A Purpose), a purple glitter (I used BarryM's Lavender Hexograms) and a piece of a make up sponge.

After applying base coat and two layers of the gradation base colour, it is time to use the sponge. Drop a bit of the ligther colour on a piece of paper and then dab the sponge in it. Gently press the sponge on the top 2/3 parts of your nail until it is covered with the colour. Then take the darker colour, do the same and this time cover the top 1/3 of your nail. To add extra sparkle apply a layer of the glitter polish.
Then top coat and you are done ^_^

I had a lot of fun doing this and it was actually my first time trying the sponging effect. I have seen quite a few tutorials both online and on magazines and I have to admit it was easier than I thought.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
Have a lovely day everyone :)

Cute Character Items Etsy Treasury

Hello everyone ^_^/

How are you all today? I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I am having a really bad case of the flu which is forcing me to stay at home and do almost nothing. I cannot even finish the manicure I had in mind because I am so dizzy most of the time. So whenever I am not drowsy I browse the net to pass the time.

I decided to be a bit creative and made my first Etsy treasury.
The theme is Cute Character Items because I have a soft spot for such goods.

Check it out here if you want.

China Glaze LOL

Hello everyone ^_^/

How was your weekend? I hope you had a fun one.

It's been a few days since my last post as I was without internet access.
This last weekend I went on a trip to see one of my favourite artists, Gackt, perform live so I wanted to wear an eyecatching polish as I didn't have a lot of time to do my manicure.

What is best for that but a China Glaze holo?
So I decided to wear LOL.
It is a very pretty colour and with just a layer of base coat and two coats of LOL my nails looked amazing. And it lasted for 5 full days before chipping off. That's one of the reasons why I love China Glaze polishes. They are long lasting and won't chip off easily.

Here are a couple of swatches of this lovely colour, under direct sunlight :)

I also bought quite a few new nail polishes while on my trip so expect swatches and haul photos soon :)

Nfu Oh 60

Hello everyone ^_^/

A few weeks ago I got some Nfu Oh polishes.
The one that immediately caught my eye was #60 so I decided to try that out first.
First I applied a coat of Barry M black polish and then a coat of Nfu Oh 60 and a layer of Seche Vite top coat.
I loved it so much that it is my current manicure and pedicure ^_^

Here is what it looks like.

All in all it is a lovely polish. The only problem I had was that it started chipping after a couple of days. My pedicure is still intact though :)

Purple Animal Print Nail tutorial

Hello everyone ^_^/

It is the weekend and I have more free time in my hands so I am thinking it is time for another tutorial.

Here is one of my favourite patterns, animal print, combined with one of my favourite colours, purple.

First here is what you are going to need.
A lilac nail polish (I used OPI's Do you Lilac It), base and top coat (I used Seche Vite for both), a silver nail art pen (I used Sally Hansen's silver nail art pen), a deep purple and a purple glitter nail art polishes.

So after preparing your nails you apply a layer of base coat.
Then two coats of the lilac polish.

I really love glitter so usually I like covering one or two of my nails on each hand with glitter. In this case I chose my index finger and my little finger. After applying a layer of the purple glitter polish on each, using the pen side of the dark purple nail art polish I drew large dots on each of my other fingers.

After waiting for the dots to dry for a few minutes, using the nail art pen I drew smaller dots inside the big ones.

And voila, animal print nails.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial, I will make another one soon.

Until the next post, take care everyone :)

Of nails and birthdays

Hello everyone ^_^/

Happy 4th of July to all Americans and Canadians.

July 4th is special for me too but for another reason.
Two of my favourite artists share a birthday on July 4th.
So I am gonna share one video of each to celebrate.

The first is Gackt, one of the most talented and magical musicians I've ever heard.
He is having a European tour this month and I can't wait to enjoy his live performance once again.
This is one of my favourite songs from him, 雪月花 - The end of silence.

The second is Akanishi Jin, a totally hilarious and sometimes sexy and fun guy from a popular JE band, KAT-TUN. Jin sometimes likes to think he is Justin Timberlake but I guess that's part of his charm too XD
This is a collaboration he did with Jpop artist Crystal Kay, a lovely song called Wonder.

And as I don't want to divert from the main purpose of this blog, here are some swatches of one of my favourite polishes, OPI's Do you Lilac It.
I am gonna turn this into an animal print mani which I am gonna post later on but for now here is the lovely light purple colour, two coats without top coat.

Some nail art for the summer

Hello everyone ^_^/

Summer is definitely the time to get around and show off some lovely nails so today I would like to share with you some nail designs that I did for my friends. They all wanted summer themes each according to their own style.

The first one is inspired from the fruit salad nails that I made for my Etsy store but this time I used only a blue base. (China Glaze Passion in the Pacific to be more exact).

The second one one is inspired from the these pink glam japanese style nails and my friend wanted an exact copy. I used China Glaze Exceptionally Gifted for this one.

And the third one, in a combination of colours perfect for the Greek summer. Erre Due silver with some teal glitter and rhinestones.

That's all I have today, I hope you liked them :)
