Beetlejuice inspired gothic nail art

Wow, January is almost over and just now I managed to find some time to write a new post!
But since today is the Chinese New Year, may the year of the horse bring happiness, health and prosperity to everyone ^_^

So for my first post for 2014 I want to show you some gothic nail art, inspired by one of my favourite movies, Beetlejuice!

I am a sucker for Tim Burton movies and I just rewatched Beetlejuice recently so I decided to do a mani to match the movie's atmosphere.

Here is what I used:

From right to left
Essence dark night starlight from the Dark Romance collection (a gift from the lovely Elena from Elena's finds
Essence Ahoy! from the 50's Girls collection
Andrea Fulerton black nail art pen
Tony Moly Startdust glitter nail polish
Seche Vite top coat
Skull nail decals

I absolutely loved the end result, I was so sad when I had to take it off! What do you have on your nails at the moment dear readers? Are you a Tim Burton fan? Which one is your favourite Tim Burton movie?

I am going to close this post with my favourite scene from the whole movie.
Bettlejuice... Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice... !!!

Purple nails for Christmas, OPI and China Glaze

Every year on Christmas eve I have to decide how to do my nails for Christmas. This year I decided to choose my favourite colour, purple!

First I painted my nails with two coats of OPI Vant to Bite my Neck, a purple creme from the recent OPI Euro Centrale collection (oh how I love both the colour and the name of this nail polish).

I could have left it like this, as the colour is fabulous and totally opaque in two coats but I wanted to add a touch of sparkle, so I reached for Put a Bow on it, a magenta glitter by China Glaze from the Chrismas 2013 Happi Holiglaze collection.

And voilĂ , my nails are ready for tonight's festivities ^_^

Do you like these colours dear readers? If you wish to get them you can find them along with a huge selection of nail colours at Beyond Polish, a webstore that specializes in nail products.

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you have a great time today and tomorrow with your loved ones!

These nail polishes were provided to me for consideration by Beyond Polish but this did not influence my review in any way. This review expresses my honest opinion. If you would like to buy this nail polish or more you can visit http://www.beyondpolish.com/

Layla Hologram Effect nail polish in Cloudy Violet and Emerald Divine

Hello everyone ^_^

it's been a while since I've last showed you a holographic nail polish around here but this is about to change. Recently I got my hands on a couple of Layla Hologram Effect nail polishes as I wanted to try them. The colours I chose were Cloudy Violet and Emerald Divine.

Before I continue, I would like to let you know that I have a Facebook only giveaway running, to celebrate my Facebook page 1000 likes milestone. Just go to Cel's Deconails facebook page to see how you can take part.

Back to the subject of nail polish, as I couldn't choose between the two, I decided to paint my nails with Cloudy Violet and use Emerald Divine as an accent colour on my ring finger. I used the NfuOh aqua base, applied two coats of the hologram effect nail polish on top and sealed everything with China Glaze Fast Forward top coat.

As you can see both colours look fabulous and Fast Forward didn't dull the holographic effect at all.

All photos are taken inside under artificial light. I wish I had some photos under direct sunlight to show you but the weather has been cloudy lately so I didn't get a chance to snap any.

What do you think of this combination dear readers? Do you own any Layla hologram effect nail polishes? Which colour would you recommend I should add to my collection? Let me know in the comments ^_^

No H8, eradicate hate in the nail polish blogging community

Hello everyone ^_^/

today I have a post that is a bit different, to share with you. We all know that at times in every community drama and wank can arise. And even worse, bullying. Sadly this has been the case in the nail blogging world recently and although I usually stay away from such situations, today I want to join the NO H8 in the Nail Polish Blogger community movement with all the fellow nail polish bloggers who are taking a stand against hate and bullying in the nail polish blogging world (and in the world in general). Today, on November 8th, nail bloggers are taking a stand against bullying and are sharing a purple manicure.

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, colour, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair colour...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colourful community.

List of the sites and bloggers who support NO H8

The mani I chose to show you today, comes from my vault. And there is a reason for that. It has stayed there because I found it messy and I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it or not. But today I am proudly sharing it with  you all, because at the end of the day nail blogging is about loving nail polish and having fun painting our nails, not about putting people down for silly reasons like clean up.

This is a half moon mani with two of the most recent OPI DS additions, Temptation and Bold

I hope you like it dear readers and most importanly I hope you support this cause.

Lynnderella Love Potion No.99 & my summer vacation

Hello everyone ^_^/

I am back from my vacation and before a very busy month comes my way, I want to say goodbye to the summer with an epic post full of glitter and beauty.

As you might remember if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, I recently acquired my first Lynnderella polishes. My small Lynnderella army as I like to call them. I wanted to try one of them so I ran a mini FB and IG poll and in the end the winner was Love Potion No.99, a beautiful purple glitter.

I used a coat of black nail polish as my base and two layers of Love Potion No.99. Added two coats of my Color Club top coat to even out any bumps and my nails were ready to hit the beach ^_^

So I set off to one of the most beautiful places in Greece, Halkidiki. I had a fabulous time as we rented a boat and went around all the little islands that were near us. So many beautiful beaches with clear cool waters were waiting to be explored.

We did a bit of sightseeing too, visiting the birthplace of Aristoteles, the local Byzantine castle, the beautiful island of Ammouliani and a fabulous 5 star hotel, Alexandros Palace that is located in the area.

If you are curious about what was in my makeup bag during this trip you can check my previous post. Apart from what's pictured there I carried some more beauty essentials with me that you can see below.

If you are wondering how Love Potion No.99 fared in the sea water, the answer is not very well. Everyday I would have to fix at least a couple of nails but I guess that is to be expected when you are in the water all day.

Where did you go on vacation this year dear readers? Have you ever been to Greece?

Kiko 278 and some nail mail

Hello everyone ^_^/

I got some fabulous nail mail through swaps the last few weeks and amongst all the pretty nail polishes, this was the one I liked the most, Kiko 278.

As you can see it is a purple glitter nail polish and I got it from a swap with the lovely Lily from My Little World of Polish (more on that and other swaps in a minute). First let's talk about Kiko 278. In the bottle it looks like a multichrome but that doesn't translate on the nail. Still, the colour is fabulous. With two coats I got perfect coverage and I loved the vivid purple colour.

Here is the rest of Lily's package.

Apart from all the pretty nail polishes, she included some super cute accessories, cosmetics and some snacks from France. If you want to see the other half of our swap, make sure you check her blog ^_^

A few days ago, I got another swap package, this time from the lovely Kayono from Neues vom Kellerkind (who is one of the sweetest people in the blogging world, just in case you didn't know)

She included so many fabulous nail polishes (plus a yummy candy selection) from Germany, including some brands that I have never heard of before So excited as I always love trying new brands and colours ^____^
You should totally check out her blog too, her nail art skills are out of this world <3

Thank you so much Lily and Kayono, it was so much fun swapping with you both <3

Did you do any swaps recently dear readers? Which colours from the above swaps would you like to see me try first? Let me know and I will do some looks with those :)

Cult Nails Seduction

Hello everyone ^_^/

Just a quick post from me today, showcasing one of the prettiest nail polishes that came out recently, Seduction by Cult Nails.

Seduction is a multichrome flakie in a sheer purple base. In other words, perfect for layering!!!

I decided to layer it over Kiko #301, a beautiful purple nail polish (that looks more blue than purple in all the photos). Here is Kiko 301 on its own (two coats over base coat).

But adding a coat of Seduction, my nails are transformed! With a layer of top coat, my nails are as shiny as ever.

If you would like to get this nail polish, make sure you hurry up as it is a limited edition nail polish, meaning it won't be available for a long time ;)

And here is an extra shot, with everything I used for this mani.

I will say it again, I love the Essence Better than Gel Nails series. The top coat is an excellent affordable substitute for the infamous Seche Vite top coat.

Do you own any of the above nail polishes dear readers? Which is your favourite top coat?

Milani Jewel FX Fuchsia and Lavender

Hello everyone ^_^

today I have two fabulous nail polishes to show you, full of glitter and bling. They are Lavender and Fuchsia from the Milani Jewel FX series. I love the Milani glitters because they are easy to apply and don't need a gazillion of coats to spread the glitter evenly on your nails.

I used a coat my favourite black nail polish as the base (Where's the Soiree by Color Club) and then applied two coats of Lavender or Fuchsia on different fingers.

The two colours work really well together and the black background makes them more vibrant.

With a colour of Seche Vite top coat, my manicure was complete.

What do you think of Milani's Jewel FX? Do you own any glitters from this series?
