Gold and black for James Bond

Hello everyone ^_^/

recently darling and me went to see Skyfall, so I wanted to make James Bond themed nails. As my nails are quite short lately, I decided to go for a black and gold glitter gradation. Black because in my opinion it's Bond's colour and gold because my favourite James Bond movie is Goldfinger.

I used Gold Old Buffy from the Essence Vampire's Love trend edition which is a black nail polish full of gold micro glitter and Make it Golden from the Essence colour & go series which is full of gold glitter of every shape and size.

I did an accent finger full of gold glitter and the gradation effect on the rest of my nails. Sealed everything with Seche Vite and I was good to go.

What I really loved about Make it Golden was that it was very easy to apply. Usually glitter nail polishes are troublesome as the glitter particles have to be moved around with the brush or an orange stick for full coverage. But this was not an issue in this case.

I seldom wear gold on my nails but I really liked this look. I got many compliments about it too both in and outside of the cinema ^_^

What about you dear readers? Have you watched Skyfall? Did you do a matching manicure?

Experiments, experiments...

Hello everyone ^_^/

in the midst of the Black Friday sale craziness, I am experimenting on new decoden styles. And since it's been a while since my last crafting post, I will show you the results of my experiments today!

A while ago a bought a bunch of super kawaii fabrics! They were sitting in a box while I was trying to decide what to do with them. So I decided to include them in a decoden project and see how they will turn out.

As I love changing my phone case every few months, I made a couple of cases for my phone. The first one has an Alice in Wonderland theme. I used a cute pink fabric with Alice themed playing cards, glitter and Swarovski crystals. And a lot of shiny varnish!!!

The second one is black and full of yummy sweets. I also added rhinestones for some bling ^_^
I used a different technique for this one so it turned out a bit rough around the edges, but I like it none the less.

Do you use phone cases dear readers? Do you prefer simple ones or blingy overloaded ones? Let me know in the comments!

the Greek files #13, Erre Due nail colours for fall

Hello everyone ^_^/

I haven't done a Greek files post for quite some time now so today I want to show you two of my favourite fall nail colours by Erre Due. If you read this blog for sometime now you will be familiar with Erre Due, a Greek cosmetics brand that a great range of nail polishes.

Two of the colours I really like for fall are Erre Due 249 and Erre Due 256 .

Erre Due 249 is a beautiful blue colour with a metallic finish. Here you can see it on my nails, after having applied two coats without topcoat.

Erre Due 256 is a grey creme. Usually I don't like creme colours but I am really loving this one. Although I am itching to add some glitter on top. This one too is two coats without topcoat.

Have you tried Erre Due nail polishes dear readers? What are your favourite fall colours?

NYX Girls nail polish haul and swatches

Hello everyone ^_^/

as you might remember a few weeks ago I attended the NYX store opening in my city. As a nail polish collector who respects herself, of course I had to get some nail polish. The store carries the whole range of the NYX Girls nail polish and it was really hard choosing just a few shades.

In the end I decided to buy five shades, Woman, Moonwalk, Aqua Glitter, Maven and Fame. I also received Grapefruit in the gift bag we were given to try out the products.

So here are some swatches of the colours. All swatches are two coats, under direct sunlight. In the cases of Aqua Glitter, Maven and Fame, I swatched them both on their own and over black (one coat black, two coats of each NYX colour) as they are glitters suitable for layering.

From left to right we have Grapefruit, Woman, Moonwalk, Aqua Glitter, Maven, Fame.

Grapefruit is what I would call a pinkish orange, if that makes any sense. It's a beautiful creme, perfect for bright summer days. Woman is a deep burgundy shimmer that will definitely by on my nails during the Holiday season. Moonwalk is a cool lavender metallic colour. Aqua glitter and Maven look quite different in the bottle but on the nails I couldn't tell them apart. Both are very pretty but if you have one, you don't need the other. And last but not least is my favourite of the bunch, Fame. A purple glitter in clear base that looks absolutely fabulous when layered over black. I think I will wear this one the most and will try different layering combinations.

Do you own any NYX Girls nail polishes dear readers? Which shade is your favourite?

No H8, eradicate hate in the nail polish blogging community

Hello everyone ^_^/

today I have a post that is a bit different, to share with you. We all know that at times in every community drama and wank can arise. And even worse, bullying. Sadly this has been the case in the nail blogging world recently and although I usually stay away from such situations, today I want to join the NO H8 in the Nail Polish Blogger community movement with all the fellow nail polish bloggers who are taking a stand against hate and bullying in the nail polish blogging world (and in the world in general). Today, on November 8th, nail bloggers are taking a stand against bullying and are sharing a purple manicure.

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, colour, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair colour...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colourful community.

List of the sites and bloggers who support NO H8

The mani I chose to show you today, comes from my vault. And there is a reason for that. It has stayed there because I found it messy and I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it or not. But today I am proudly sharing it with  you all, because at the end of the day nail blogging is about loving nail polish and having fun painting our nails, not about putting people down for silly reasons like clean up.

This is a half moon mani with two of the most recent OPI DS additions, Temptation and Bold

I hope you like it dear readers and most importanly I hope you support this cause.

November nail inspiration, fall inspired step by step nail art

Hello everyone ^_^/

November is upon us and finally I can feel the weather getting colder. So for this month's nail inspiration, I have for you easy to follow step by step nail art tutorials with a fall theme as seen in the November edition of Nail UP! Magazine.

First we have three nail art tutorials using easy to find nail art parts like glitter, nail decals, pearls and rhinestones or Swarovski crystals. Use top coat to glue the smaller parts and glue for the bigger parts.

If you have a steady hand you can try the following designs that can be made by using different colours and brushes. For the thicker lines use your nail polish brush after carefully wiping the extra polish on the inside of the bottle neck. For the finer lines, put a drop of nail polish on a paper palette and use a fine nail art brush.

What do you think dear readers? Are these tutorials easy to follow, or do you find them confusing?
